Our hearts are just breaking for these 29 people and their familes at the end of August here in 2021. The Everett and Austin Project keeps becoming more and more known and we are all working so hard to spread the good will.

But this means that we are getting more and more requests for help and the dollars needed to help keep adding up. So please pray about how God might answer these needs. The needs are particularly grievous.

We feel like we just just have to help these people. We have to be good samaritans. These are our neighbors. Africa is not as far away as you might think.

The Everett and Austin Project is now serving in 6 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa – Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Cameroon, Zambia and Rwanda. Won’t you join us?

I found a hospital in Kisumu through Dorothy (Wayne’s mom) where DMD tests are done but I have to book an appointment with the doctor. So I wanted to inquire with you if I can go ahead and book an appointment with him and also ask for the charges so that I can share with you.

I believe you remember Kevin the case I found a few weeks ago, I talked to the mother yesterday and she told me falls and becoming frequent so I thought taking him for check up will be appropriate.

Should I go ahead and talk to the doctor then give you feedback please?

“Dorothy told us that they had to transfer Wayne to a different school which was disability friendly because his former school he wasn’t receiving the proper care he needed. So the new school is great but they’re overwhelmed by the fee, they can afford to pay because the father lost his job due the COVID-19 pandemic and the Dorothy is struggling to make ends meet.

Their request was if you could kindly help them pay Wayne’s Fee.”

The fee is 27,600 Ksh. ($260.54)

“Goodevening members.

Today we were able to take Shaban back to the hospital for review
After getting his xray results from Kabarole Hospital and took it back to the doctor who had recommended a pelvic xray however, the xray results were normal and there were no defects detected, but the doctor didn’t rule out muscular dystrophy in this boy because the his muscles in the pelvic region seem to getting weaker and why he’s getting pain time and again, the boy was referred to the physiotherapist to do more analysis and recommend help to the boy the physiotherapist noticed reduced muscle power around the lower limb when shaban was asked to walk around as a demonstration.

The physiotherapist recommended more exercises on addition to the treatment the doctor had recommended and he was asked to go back on 20th next month for review incase things dont change.

He however didnt go home  with the medicine he was recommended to take because it wasnt at the hospital pharmacy and we could have only bought it in the outside pharmacies but we didnt have enough funds.

Thank you everyone for your prayers and support God bless you!”

The doctor assessed him and he noticed signs and symptoms associated with Duchenne muscular dystrophy of the signs he noticed were, muscle wasting intact sensation, reduced muscle power which has made it difficult for him to walk and stand.
However the doctor suggested that we could do other tests of other illnesses like multiple sclerosis which can be investigated through a CT scan or MRI. He further recommended to continue physiotherapy.

“Sulait is aged 13 and currently in primary 4, The older brother too has started showing sign’s of muscular dystrophy. We promised their father that we shall facilitate medical test for the elder brother.”

Hoima, UgandaMildred & Chris“Good morning Tim thank you for all you do. And may God continue using you to touch many souls. Like you had suggested to handle a case by case. I wouldlike to bring this case to your attention.  We met [Esther] during our community engagement and was touched by her story. She has celebral palsy lives alone with her dad after the mother running away. She is 7 years but cannot seat or talk. She spends most time locked up in that house as the father goes out to dig and do labouring to meet their needs. Their surrounding is very untidy and according to the dad they leave on one meal a day. Esther is malnourished and is also epileptic so has to take a pill everyday. I have sent you that video and you can suggest how to help. But from.my observation Esther needs physiotherapy, food, clothing, may be even  bedding. Kindly watch the video and let me.know how you can be of help. Thank you very much may God bless you.”unknown

“Bertha and her family really do need help. When I first met her she was using a wheelchair, but with physiotherapy she is now able to walk. Her balance is not that much which means she’ll still needs a wheelchair.

Of course it will Good for her parents to do a business to help them take care of their children especially Bertha. I will try to find to find out what type of business they would want to venture in and how much will be required. That would be next week also cause I don’t work on weekends.”
